The Vermillion Community Theatre is the home of amateur theatre in Vermillion, South Dakota. VCT takes pride in mounting ambitious productions that draw upon the enthusiasm and rich talent pool that runs throughout our community. We strive to include everyone who wants to be involved, whether on stage or off, and to do that in an uplifting and educational way. No matter what your age is or whether you have theatre experience or not, VCT has a place for you.

VCT is always looking to put more people on stage, in the wings, in the pit, in the costume shop, or on our set builds. If you'd like to become one of our volunteers, please contact us through our Volunteer with VCT page.

Summer 2014 Shows!

The VCT board of directors has announced its 2014 summer season. The main stage offering is the classic “Oliver!” Performances will be July 25th-28th, with rehearsals beginning on June 15th. Auditions will be on May 11th from 4-6 pm, and May 14th from 6-8 pm at the United Church of Christ-Congregational on Main Street.

“Oliver!” is a musical about young orphan Oliver Twist’s adventures on the streets of London. It features music, lyrics and book by Lionel Bart, a popular British songwriter and composer during the 1950s, ‘60s and ‘70s.

This year’s children’s theatre production, presented in cooperation with Dakota Players, is “Space School Musical.” The play was developed as part of NASA’s Discovery and New Frontier programs, which are designed to provide young people with a better understanding of space.

The cast is limited to 50 elementary school actors. Young actors may register to participate at the Parks and Recreation event in early May or online. Casting on June 16 will be followed by a full week of rehearsal and a June 20 performance.

Both plays will be presented at the Vermillion High School Performing Arts Center.
